Achieving high production has been a problem for many rechargers. It seems the bottleneck occurs after the initial cleaning process wherein cartridges are submerged in water or flushed using needles to clean the foam. The result using these cleaning methods is cartridges that have wet foam that must then be dried. Failure to have dry foam can cause ink to migrate away from the delivery channel; dilute the ink, change the colors, cause loss of print and inaccurate weights.
When cartridge foam is mostly dry an HP78 cartridge should weight approximately 88 grams before filling. Using R-Jet Tek’s PC-1 Cartridge Cleaning system which is a patented vacuum impregnation process combined with the CentraClean centrifuge machine will be able to obtain a cartridge weight of approximately 92 grams. With the addition of the VO66 System the attained weight will be approximately 88 grams and this is achieved in 90 minutes. According to Brooks “by using the VO66 we increased our throughput to 350 HP 78 cartridges per oven in an eight hour shift and the success rate exceeded 98 percent”.
