The chips are $2.20 each, and are sold in a 10pk.
Here are some helpful tips on using our replacement chips for HP Cartridges:
- They are not resettable.
- Operators handling these chips need to be grounded with wrist or ankle static guard to prevent ESD (ElectroStatic Descharge).
- The HP 4844 is high capacity and the 4840 is standard and they use different chips.
- Testing the chips in printers will activate the chip (and activate the countdown for the chip’s shelf life).

In order to make proper contact with the printer circuitry, the chip must be precisely aligned at the very bottom of the indented rectangular space.
When bottom edge of the chip is aligned to the bottom edge of the indented rectangle, there will be approximately 1/16" space at the top.

The example below shows the chip incorrectly placed, as the bottom edge of the chip is not aligned with the bottom edge of the indented rectangular space.
