As part of R-Jet Tek’s commitment to knowledge-sharing, the company has added John Fields to its staff as a specialist in ink products. In his capacity, Fields will be responsible for business development for the company’s ink products, specifically OCP Inks. R-Jet Tek is OCP’s exclusive North American distributor. According to R-Jet Tek president, Mike Warner, “R-Jet Tek made a commitment a few years back to be more proactive in our knowledge-sharing efforts to the industry, believing that we will serve our business interests by helping educate those entering the field on better ways to do things. As a company we have been doing a good job educating newcomers about processes, procedures and techniques in ink jet remanufacturing. Now, we are going to share more of what we know about the ink component of remanufacturing and strongly believe John is the man to do it.”
Before joining R-Jet Tek, John Fields spent 3 years as a Color Specialist for Kinko’s where he was trained extensively in color reproduction and printing before moving on to Pikes Peak Reprographics where he managed the large format color scanning and printing department. As an art reproduction specialist he has worked with many famous artists from around the Pikes Peak region. His knowledge of color matching, digital printing techniques, and graphic software earned him the reputation as the go-to man for high-end color reproduction in the area. Vic Johnson, R-Jet Tek’s director of communications, says of Fields’ addition, “We are confident that John’s graphic arts background and his practical knowledge of quality print reproduction give him the tools he needs to talk ink to our industry. John knows color and has a very trained, critical eye for quality image reproduction.”
Although the new position is still being defined, Fields’ primary responsibility will be to take the R-Jet Tek and OCP message to the industry through one-on-one customer contact, as well as group presentations and trade press contributions. Ink workshops in major markets are also being considered. When asked about his plans for his new role, John says, “I want to establish myself as a THE ink information resource at R-Jet Tek. OCP has extensive research on ink and R-Jet Tek is a pioneer in the industry. I want to take that data and vast experience and communicate it to the industry in real, usable content to help make our customers more successful.” He adds, “After all, ink is a very critical component of the remanufacturing process and there are some very significant differences in inks.” Plans are underway between R-Jet Tek and OCP to formulate a comprehensive strategy to educate the industry about those differences. Watch for future announcements as that plan solidifies.
