Don’t update your Lexmark, HP or Brother firmware.

The above listed printer manufacturers are continuing to change their firmware in order to lock-out remanufactured cartridges from working in their printers.

Most OEM’s ask owners to set their configuration so the firmware updates automatically. If you sell or use remanufactured cartridges suggest to your customers that they change the setting disallowing automatic updates. Otherwise they will only be able to use the original cartridges. Once the firmware has been updated it is not easy or sometimes not possible to upload the older version that worked with the remanufactured cartridges.
