Firmware update on HP 8600 Series OfficeJets

Our chip vendor has advised us that on March 6th, HP implemented a firmware update on the OfficeJet 8600 Series Devices. This firmware update impacts those printer owners whose devices are set for automatic firmware updates and also use aftermarket cartridges. Those with aftermarket cartridges installed may get a message saying there is a damaged cartridge in the printer. OEM cartridges will need to be installed.

Our vendors expect to have a solution within the next couple of days and it could be several days or more before we have replacement chips available. We suggest you let your customers know of this situation and suggest they turn off auto firmware update on their device. We will post new information as it becomes available.
