Inkjet cartridge refilling is getting easier and more profitable as the tank cartridges gain greater market share in the U.S. Canon has been selling printers for years that utilize single color tank cartridges but they had a small share of the market and clones kept many from refilling.

When HP introduced their line of printers with individual color - tank cartridges i.e., the 564’s they also introduced lockout chips.
