Part Four: Growing Your Business Chapter Eight: Dot Matrix Services Many of you will want to offer a more complete service to your customers by including all printer technologies in your repertoire. For some prospects, the ability to deal with one company for all their printer consumables is important. You may find that some companies, while interested in your product, are reluctant to have separate suppliers for these consumables. While your service would save them money, they feel that the addition of another vendor may not be worth the extra time. You can count on the question arising when canvassing for new business: "Can you also supply me with cartridges?" and variations of the same. If you only plan to offer ink jet services, look for ways to assist your customer in finding sources of products you do not handle. When possible, use the opportunity to establish a partnering relationship with who you are recommending. If you decide to offer only ink jet goods and services, it is important that you offer not only remanufactured cartridges, but any other consumbles, supplies, accessories, and services that further your claim as an ink jet expert. For those of you interested in a more complete printer services business, there is good news. The office products recycling industry has matured to the point that impact (dot matrix) consumables are easily out-sourced for both new and remanufactured product. |
